Gerard Fahy was born into a family and an area steeped in traditional music.

As early as the age of 3 he was playing and proceeded to win many All Ireland titles in both whistle and pipes.

He is also a multi instrumentalist playing keyboards, bouzuki, in fact anything that makes a musical sound.

His grandfather, Thomas Whyte was one of the founder members of the famous "Ballinakill Ceili Band" and his aunt was the legendary fiddler, Aggie Whyte.

Gerard was the piper and musical director with Michael Flatley's show "Lord of the Dance".

He is a prolific composer and some of his music features in Michael Flatley’s new show “Feet of Flames”.

His compositions have been recorded by a host of well known artists including The Boston Pops Orchestra, Eileen Ivers and Joannie Madden.


Three of his compositions are included in his sister's Mairin’s solo album.

“Magh Seola”, another of his compositions recorded by The Boston Pops Orchestra spent 3 months at the top of the U.S. classical charts.

The national Irish station TG4 has used Gerard’s compositions for many animated series including Pangur Ban.

Recently he has also worked with leading hollywood animator Bruce Johnson.

However it is in Tara that one is treated to more than 20 of Gerard’s best compositions.
