Additional direction and musical staging - TARA

Born and Bred in Australia, Martin Michel trained as a professional dancer at the Australian Ballet School.

Martin enjoyed a career in classical dance with The Australian Opera, The Australian Ballet and The Queensland Ballet, where he was Principal Dancer and danced many leading roles including Romeo in "Romeo and Juiet", Don Jose in "Carmen" and Othello.

Moving to Amsterdam in 1992, Martin turned his skills to musicals, dancing in CATS and The Phantom of the Opera (where he was Dance Captain and Resident Director). He was also Resident Director and Resident Choreorapher of the Dutch production of Miss Saigon.

Now a freelance choreographer and director, Martin has staged many original productions in Belgium and The Netherlands including:

Jekyll and Hyde, Company, The Hired Man, Follies, She Loves Me and Merrily We Roll Along for The Royal Ballet of Flanders musical division.
Peter Pan, La Strada and The Never Ending Story for NTG Gent,
Robin Hood, Sleeping Beauty, The 3 Little Pigs and The Little Mermaid for Studio 100
A Chorus Line for Melody Music and Joop van den Ende.
Tin Tin and the Temple of Sun for Tabas & Co.

He recently won the John Kraaikamp Musical Award 2OO4 for his direction and musical staging of Stephen Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along.
