The
band featured in Tara is Furry Village. Legendary
in Galways premier live venue The Quay, they have developed
a unique sound and energy which fuses traditional compositions with contemporary
rock. In 1996 the Furry Village single She moved through the fair distributed by Warner, stayed in the Irish top ten music charts for over 8 weeks. They have headlined Galway Arts festival and the famous Celtica Festival in Italy. Recent concerts include Breda (Holland) in November 2003 and they play Amsterdam Concert Hall in August 2004. Guitarist Chris Kelly has played with the Frankie Gavin Quartet, Martin O'Connors band, Harmonica Supremos, Larry Adler, Brendan Power and flute wizard Niall Keegan. In the past four years, he has produced and played on 10 top traditional Irish albums. Currently Mairin and Chris front the Mairin Fahy band, who return to Holland in 2005 as part of the Irish UnPlugged Tour.
Benny Hayes is one of the most innovative keyboard players on the Irish music scene today. As well as being a member of Reeltime and The Mairin Fahy band, he has recorded with many great artists, including the legendary Nashville guitar player Philip Donnelly and Galway native Sean Tyrell. Bassist John Lyons, like the Fahys comes from a very strong musical family. Currently he fronts his own Galway based band Gemini 4. |
